Wartsila 46 Bearing

Mega Marine supplies genuine and reconditioned bearing for Wartsila 46 marine engines, along with complete engines and a comprehensive range of spare parts. Fast RFQ response and global delivery.

About this part

Marine engine bearings are precision thin-walled shells of bi-metallic or tri-metallic construction, providing the hydrodynamic oil-film bearing surface between rotating crankshaft journals and the engine structure. Main bearings support the crankshaft in the bedplate, crankpin bearings load through the connecting rod, and crosshead bearings carry the reversal of load direction at the crosshead. All are designed as scheduled replacement items.

Function in the Engine

Support rotating and reciprocating loads on a hydrodynamic lubricating oil film, provide a replaceable sacrificial surface protecting the harder crankshaft journals from direct metal contact, distribute lubricating oil through machined grooves and feed holes to internal engine components.

About the Wartsila 46

460mm bore large medium-speed engine producing up to 19,700 kW in the 20-cylinder V-configuration. Used in cruise ships, large passenger ferries, and LNG carriers where high power and fuel flexibility are required.

Common Issues Requiring Replacement

Fatigue failure of the bearing overlay from cyclic loading exceeding endurance limits, wiping from oil film breakdown during lube oil starvation, corrosion from acidic products in degraded lubricating oil, cavitation erosion on the shell back face, incorrect installation causing premature failure.

Mega Marine supplies genuine OEM and quality reconditioned bearing for Wartsila 46 engines, with full traceability and global shipping to any port worldwide. We respond to quote requests within 4–6 hours.
